It's almost Christmas......
It's hard for us to believe it's almost Christmas even though we are reminded here in China in very unusual ways. This is a tree made of wine bottles with flashing lights. Have finally got the Internet happening on my computer at Selina's parents. Their computer is very old and they have ADSL so I was proud of myself when I figured out how to connect in to China Telecom, their ISP Provider. And I have Picasa all loaded on my computer so it's all happening. Hopefully their ADSL is OK for us to do a video link up on Christmas Day.
Nothing at all feels like Christmas here. It's all so different. I have been trying to play Christmas carols on the beautiful piano they have here. Sam and Selina have gone out tonight with their friends, and we have had our first dinner with Selina's Mum and Dad. Try having a meal with people who don't speak the same language. It's a very different experience. We decided to write down words and phrases to communicate. Fortunately they know the English alphabet, but virtually no words so we had an English and a Chinese lesson. We went and saw the giant Pandas today and will go for a massage tonight with Selina's parents. Tomorrow is Selina's birthday so we will celebrate for lunch. We want to look for a church tomorrow night, but don't think we'll be in luck. Should be able to blog most days now. Hope you continue to enjoy the pics. Please try and show Nana and Poppa Scholz if you get the chance. Tell them and Nana Lambert that i have been doing a diary so they will be able to read about our interesting adventures. We feel so blessed to be having this experience and know that they will probably never have the opportunity to experience such a different country as China. It is truly a land of contrasts. They say the same about Australia but the contrast here is with its people and the process of modernisation.
Thanks for the message re the computer today Neish....I tried every combination then as you replied I got it!!!! Also I will take some pics of 3 skirts I bought....thinking Ellie and Neish will like them. I will blog them and let me know what you think .....I know we won't have much space, but I keep seeing gorgeous clothing I think you both would like. Hello Rikki, Kristin, Joshua and Simeon....and of course Jordy as well. Hi Kay as well.....enjoy Christmas eve tomorrow.
Love you all lots and lots.......xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
